Lost in thought,
hemmed in by
not knowing,
trapped
in the work-a-day world
do or die,
I took a walk,
found a Toad
in the leaves
by the woods,
slowed down
to a stands-still
by the cold.
Will you be my
good luck charm?
I'm not superstitious
but I needed something - a sign
of good things
to come.
So I carried it inside,
but it felt out of place
in that sterile place
where the natural
is not.
I thought,
I'd better bring it
out,
let it go back
to the place it knows.
To the place
I wish
to go.
Once again you capture so well that puzzling link between the natural world and our own version of reality. Your poetry touches my soul in the same way that Frost's does. Since transition I've become ever more aware of such things and have found myself restless in the way one sometimes does when Fall comes around. There have been so many new experiences and I take inspiration daily from each new one. I've never felt this awake before.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your amazing poetry, I love it :) xx
Thank you. In the act of writing, I find discovery. I'm finding my voice and , most importantly, a sense of joy.
